The thing with downloading being legal or illegal... the law is very blurry about that actually. I read an article recently about it quoting a law: that downloading mp3s or any other file is not illegal as long as it's for personal use, what is illegal is to put mp3s available for download, sharing them. Like taping something from the tv and lending it to a friend... except in to bigger extend. Anyway, this part of the law prevented music companies in France to go on and sue some people who were arrested.
