Matt,

It sounds like you're blaming the band to make music you like. You became
a fan because you like the band, the music, Shirley's voice and aura, etc.
You cannot *decide* to be a fan of a band. I didn't know what it was like to
be a fan of a band before garbage. And I believe I will never be a fan of 
any other band again. To be a garbage fan is a trap we all fell into... albeit 
it's a very sweet trap. In this trap you end up spending a lot of money,
whether that's for albums, singles, concerts, or whatever. You can't blame
the band for this, only yourself.
