The final results are in (and not as late as I had anticipated) for my poll
this past week, in which I asked my site visitors to choose what they
believed most closely represented the "PSB trajectory." And the choice that
received the most votes was:

* "Mostly high with the occasional dip," selected by 31.8% of the voters --
more than three times as many as the runner-up!

To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at
http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and click the "Past Survey Results"
button in the left navigation bar.

My new poll for the week ahead is inspired by the fact that commentators
have often referred to the Pet Shop Boys and/or their music and lyrics as
"melancholy" -- so much so that it has become a cliche. So I'm wondering
how you would rate the "degree of melancholy," so to speak, of each of
their studio albums on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 meaning "Not melancholy
at all" and 10 meaning "Despairingly, almost suicidally melancholy." Note
that this is not a "ranking" in which every album must have a different
rank in a hierarchy, but rather a rating in which conceivably more than one
album can rate the same in terms of melancholy. So please, when you get the
chance, take a few moments to mull this over and make your choices right
there on my home page. And thanks to Vince for suggesting this intriguing
question!

Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's rather unusual survey!
And I hope every single one of you have a week ahead that's most definitely
*not* melancholy!
