>From the new May 2005 issue of Alternative Press:

Shirley Manson's Triumphant Return

You only need to read the album title to realize that Shirley Manson and
her band of producer-type backing musicians have ditched the cutesy
chickie-pop of their last album, 2001's Beautifulgarbage. What is pleasant
about Garbage's fourth album is how ferocious and vital its sexed-up rock
sounds. Hints of the Clash's bombast and the Undertones' adolescent desire
abound in Bleed Like Me's gigantic power chords and electro-plated melodies
- most memorably on the Gwen Stefani-goes-badass sounds of "Why Don't You
Come Over" and "Why Do You Love Me". A caveat: There are no real surprises
on Bleed; but as a return to the steady Garbage ferocity of old, it's first
rate. (4 out of 5) -Annie Zaleski
