In my opinion TWINE gave Garbage a good bit of recognition in the Uk.. they
were involved with a large organisation.. it definitely opened them up to a
world who hadn't known them before.. they were in many magazines and there
was the making of the video on mtv which still gets put about even now..

garbage's audience is not in mainstream movies.. i dont believe it.. garbage
are very much the mainstream band! or rather they should be.. they are
slightly different, thats true.. but they are essentially a pop group.. and
if they target that audience (and win them) then they have won, more fans,
more press, more promotion and more money.. i think garbage have pretty much
said themselves (although not in so many words and not very publicly) that
they do require success - unsurprisingly - they arent a band that is just
going to do it even if they end up fading to the underground i think.
although i hope it never comes to such a thing!!

>Everyone thought having a song on the Big Daddy soundtrack would be good
>publicity, but alas it did nothing. Even I thought that doing the Bond
>theme would be great publicity, but again, nothing. The reason is because
>those movies (and Charlie's Angels) do not target the type of audience that
>Garbage reaches. Those are, as I said earlier, J-Lo, Christina Aguilera,
>and Madonna territory. If Garbage were to reach that mass type of audience
>with a particular song on a soundtrack, the most that would ever happen is
>they would sell some singles. It would do little to nothing for their album
>sales. Garbage is still mostly known as that quirky band of old men with
>the scary red-headed Scottish chick. They are sort of the "Ghost World",
>"Secretary", or "Mulholland Drive" of music. That's the audience they
>should look to.
