Someone on this list had heard from a friend that the Datsuns weren't very
good. Uh, yeah.

Playing the first of two shows at the historic Troubadour in West
Hollywood, the Datsuns played a ridiculous 75 minute set that had the place
in such a frenzy at the end that I thought the roof might blow. The crowd
was about half 14-17 year olds and half of everything else. Of course
Shelly and I were at the upper edge of the age spectrum.

We were seriously planning on just hanging at the bar and kicking it all
night. But by the second song, there we were up front in the middle of all
the chaos. The main set consisted of twelve songs and then there was a
three song encore. During the last song, Freeze Sucker, the entire band,
their instruments, and much of the drum kit, ended up being tossed around
the audience. Somehow I ended up crawling on the stage at the end where I
was able to grab a pick and rip a setlist off the ground. I don't know if
I've ever had that much fun, even at a Garbage concert. Just one long
amazing pure adrenaline rush.

Those of you in the LA area, run don't walk to the Troubadour for tonight's
performance.
