         Harvey Goldsmith gets early Xmas present

     Harvey Goldsmith has been chosen to promote
     the Live 8 concerts in the UK and Europe. It
     must be something of a surprise to many in the
     industry, given that in 1999 Goldsmith went
     bankrupt owing the Pet Shop Boys, whose UK
     tour he was promoting, several hundred grand.
     Goldsmith transferred profitable tours he was
     promoting with Sting and Jools Holland to a
     different company. UK laws allow this, but
     it left the Pet Shop Boys bearing the brunt
     of an enormous loss Goldsmith had made that
     year with the Eclipse Festival.

     So Live 8 provides Goldsmith with the perfect
     opportunity to rebuild his reputation...
     making him the first benefactor of the
     Live 8 concerts.
