clamassassin relies on ClamAV to do the unpacking of attachments, so it 
would be dependent on ClamAV to support that.  If you are using the 
current version of ClamAV (i.e. 0.80 or higher) then you should have no 
problem.  Other scanners such as qmail-scanner will do the decoding of 
attachments themselves, which allows them to do other content filtering 
than just virus checking, but it increases the responsibility of the 
scanner.
