I don't quite get all the moral anxiety people are
feeling about whether or not to download BLM if it
leaks. Now, if I had a promo copy, I wouldn't leak it
(Not to the general public anyway. I might find a way
to give some TTers a listen ;) But if someone else
leaks it, the deed is already done. My downloading it
or not downloading it isn't gonna change that.
This is the way it's always been; we trashers search
and scratch and claw at every lead, trying to get a
listen, if we can, before the songs are released.
It's like tradition--part of the excitement of a new
album coming out. We had mp3s (crappy 64kbps quality)
of HIMH and YLSF months before V2.0 came out. That
was before a lot of people had ever heard of an mp3.
That was probably the day I downloaded winamp, just so
I could hear those 2 songs.
My rant isn't really directed at anyone here. Matt's
comment just made me think of it. Mostly I saw
arguments popping up on the official MB about this
stuff, and I just wanted to grab the naysayers by the
shoulders and shake them and say, "BUT DON'T YOU WANT
TO HEAR THE ALBUM!?!?"
Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. If BLM leaks, I'll
download it in a heartbeat. And I'll still insist on
getting to the store to buy it the very day it's
released.
Sorry for the rant. I think I just needed to vent.
phew...
