Hey what's up!! I'm in San Antonio too!! I can attest to what this girl has to say about what a barren wasteland San Antonio is for any decent music... its a sad thing that the last Garbage song I heard on the radio was - you guessed it - "Special," and that I was so elated even to hear them on there at all!! Not to say that the radio was any great bastion of hope for the state of the music industry... In any case, I think the band members have stated that they wouldn't perform in San Antonio again after the rather - um - negative reception they apparently got when opening for Smashing Pumpkins back in '96-ish, right??

...horrible

Alas... still haven't gotten "Bleed..." yet... LOL... I meant to go to WalMart last night (or this morning, as the case may be), but I got too stoned... go fig... LOL... so I'm waiting for the lunch hour...

Now I'm gonna vent for a bit here... like... Garbage was my single favorite band from about '96 until... well... '01 when they released "BeautifulGarbage..." That was when I stopped buying their singles, unsubscribed from this list and everything, so you can imagine what a broken man I'd become because of it... LOL... My musical tastes had also changed quite a bit by that time, and pop was not a part it (still isn't, mostly)... sure they'd always been pop in one way or another, but they always had a certain flare that gave them a special "umph..." If its anything I've learned about music and bands 'n' whatnot, its that you can't really claim to know an artist/band until 'roundabout the third album... know what I mean?? So anyhoo... I'm really hoping that this new CD will at least move them back up a few positions in my personal Top 40 which, as far as I'm concerned, is the only one that matters... I've read pretty decent reviews, so I have faith... :)

TTYL,
Jeremy

P.S.
I wonder how many of you folks have been on since the beginning... jus' curious... ;) I think I have some catching up to do... I was semi-shocked to read the other day that Shirley and her husband had split... -sigh-

>Hey hey! So I've kept quiet for quite a while b/c for some reason I
just
>wasn't processing the fact that Garbage was releasing a new album.
Maybe
>b/c I'm in San Antonio, Texas, the armpit for anything that's not
Mexican.
>Plus this is the first album that I hadn't downloaded.
>
>So I woke up extra early this morning to go to SuperTarget to get the
album
>before i went to class. So I went to the CD section and this guy was
>putting out stuff but I see no Garbage and I started to freak out. So
I
>asked him if they were putting out the stuff released today and he
asked me
>what I was looking for and I told him. He walked off to the storage
area
>and returned 5 minutes later with a huge stack of new Garbage CDs. I
>grabbed one from him and just stood there looking at it in my hand and
I
>got SOOO FRIGGIN EXCITED!!!!! I practically skipped to the checkout
line
>and was in the process of opening it as the checkout lady scanned it.
It
>only cost $10.78!!
>After that I walked to the Starbucks in the Target and ordered while
>ripping all the plastic and stickers off of it and the girl who took
my
>order saw the CD and was like 'ohmigosh where did you get that???' And
I
>told her it was just released today and she started to get excited and
said
>she'd probably see it later when another girl came in b/c that girl
was
>obsessed with Shirley Manson. Then she told the Starbucks dude that I
had a
>new Garbage CD and he got all excited and started saying how he loves
all
>of Garbage's songs and asked if any of the new stuff was being played.
I
>had to tell him regrettably how much San Antonio sucks thus he would
never
>hear anything about them here. Both of them kept laughing at me b/c I
had
>the biggest smile on my face b/c I was sooo friggin excited!!!!!!!
>I got to listen to the first 7 songs on my way to school and now I'm
>sitting in the library, supposed to be writing a paper on Greece
listening
>to the rest of it and e-mailing yall.
>
>I would just like to express my jealously to all you people that live
in
>cool cities that have these Garbage listening parties, play Garbage on
the
>radio, and actually get Garbage conerts. I heard Why Do You Love Me
on the
>radio when I was in Columbus Ohio over spring break. First time I'd
heard
>Garbage on the radio in 3 years.
