[Trash-talk] Enjoy the Silence?

Hi, my name's Curtis and I joined the list sometime between S/T and 
V2.0. I'm from Denton, Texas, just north of Dallas. I lived there for 40 
years until my wife and I moved to Kansas City two years ago. We've been 
married 17 years and have no kids. My early career opportunities 
involved pizza, house painting and auto parts refurbishing while putting 
my wife through college and playing bass in a rock band trying to "make 
it". It was lots of fun, but after 15 years I just couldn't bring myself 
to play Louie, Louie or Mony, Mony at one more frat party or blues bar. 
Since then, I've been installing sound, lighting and video systems 
across the US. Mostly a chain of books, music, video stores and lots of 
movie theater gamerooms and lobbies, but if you've been to a topless, 
gay, sports or Tejano bar in Dallas, my company probably installed 
something there.

Because I travel so much, I've been able to go to about 10-15 Garbage 
shows. The first time was Oklahoma City on the V2.0 tour. I've also seen 
them in Dallas several times, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Terre 
Haute - where I just missed meeting Chris French and a couple of other 
trashers, and Austin - where I met Pat, Petra, Lauren and Renee. My 
moment of Garbage epiphany was watching the 1996 MTV movie awards 
performance of OHWIR. I bought the CD the next day.

Both my parents are professional musicians and I grew up playing the 
viola and listening to a lot of classical and jazz, but discovered the 
Buzzcocks, Clash, Ramones, Pretenders, VU, et. al. in high school during 
the late 70's. The first concert I ever went to was Paul McCartney & 
Wings in 1976 and the most recent was Radiohead in Seattle last August. 
These days my favorites include Libertines, Distillers, PJ Harvey, 
Flaming Lips, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dressy Bessy, Neko Case, modern day Liz 
Phair, a hundred others and, of course, Garbage.
