personally i think his statements are almost hilariously ironic
considering how much tommy uses totally pointless samples on the
humanistic record... granted i think ap are a great band and wonderful
live, but i think his statements were totally out of line considering
garbage were taking them on the tour that exposed them to such a huge
audience... and they did make a shitload of new fans off that tour that
wouldn't have given them a second glance otherwise (hey let's face it,
how many of you heard 'abandoned pools' and thought 'what a stupid band
name; that band has to suck' ? i know i did until i heard them..).
still i suppose since it's a one-man project he's due for a bit of
egomania. garbage are a technology-oriented band, and it's necessary
for them to use all the gadgets and samples to bring their incredibly
studio-tweaked sound into a live performance. we all know how kickass
hammering in my head is live, and it's just as solid as the album
version (if not more).. and it's the STRIPPED DOWN version! if
something screws up it screws up; they're good enough musicians to play
around it and work it in.
still. tommy has totally replaced the members of that band about three
times since the garbage tour. i guess all of us who fell madly in love
with leah have yet another reason not to bother seeing them live again :P
