I got to see them last week in Kansas City at Memorial Hall - the same
place I saw Garbage on the V2.0 tour before I even lived here. It was
one of the shows taped for the WIGU live video (and DVD, dammit!).

It seemed like it took a few songs for the Stripes to hit stride. When
Jack was at the mic by Meg's drum set, he kept reaching his foot back
behind him and pushing his guitars off their stands. A guy had to keep
running the guitars offstage to retune and return them to their stands.

You're right, the highlight of the show was Death Letter and Seven
Nation Army on slide. Also Hotel Yorba, We're Gonna be Friends, Pretty
Good Looking and Meg's song got great response from the crowd. I think
they rarely play Fell in Love With a Girl, and I read that Jack will
sometimes stop after a few bars if he's not "feeling it".

Jack had a manic, spastic electricity about him, but rarely acknowledged
the audience. Some people have to shut out the world and go into their
own to pull off performing. Maybe he's like that.
