Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks your early overall impression of the songs -- especially the new songs -- from "Musik," the Pet Shop Boys' new collaboration with Jonathan Harvey and Frances Barber. If you haven't voted yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new survey for the next two weeks. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And the choice that received the most votes was: * "They're OK, not bad, but certainly not top-notch for PSB," picked by 25.5% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options from the top navigation bar, or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the two weeks ahead lists a number of Tennant-Lowe songs that they "handed off" to other artists to record and release before our musical heroes released their own version. I'm asking you to pick the songs that you prefer as performed *by* those other artists as opposed to by the Boys themselves. So please take a few moments to make your choices right there on my home page. And thanks so much to Tobias Gadau for suggesting this most intriguing question! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in my previous survey! I hope you all have a great two weeks ahead! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which lists a selection of songs written by the Pet Shop Boys that they "gave" to other artists to record were released before they released their own versions. I'm wondering which of them you prefer as performed by those *other* artists as opposed to the Boys' own version? So if you haven't taken part yet, please take a few moments to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choices right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this survey, post the final results, and launch a new poll for the next two weeks. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I wish you all a fantastic weekend! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at geowayne.com Sat Sep 21 21:42:45 2019 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Sat, 21 Sep 2019 21:42:45 -0700 Subject: [Introspective] Final results of poll on songs preferred by other artists rather than by PSB Message-ID: <67567b9b-2930-9a2f-4b15-1f10e346ac64@geowayne.com> The final results are in for my poll of the past two weeks, in which I asked my site visitors to pick from a selection of Tennant-Lowe songs -- the ones released by other artists before they released their own renditions -- those that they prefer as performed by those other artists as opposed to the versions by the Pet Shop Boys themselves. And the song that received the most votes -- in fact, the *only* one picked by a majority of the voters -- was: * "Nothing Has Been Proved" by Dusty Springfield, which 50.4% of the voters preferred by her as opposed to by the Pet Shop Boys. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar, or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. For the next two weeks, I will run my latest "Ratings Project" survey, which also happens to be my 900th poll. I've listed the five most recently released Tennant-Lowe songs, the new ones from the one-woman cabaret show "Musik," as well as the Pet Shop Boys' new single in collaboration with Years & Years, "Dreamland." As usual, I'm asking you rate each of them on a scale of 0 to 10 as they compare with all other PSB songs?not with tracks by other artists. For instance, 0 would mean you feel it's one of their all-time worst songs, 5 would mean you consider it "average" for them, and 10 means you regard it as one of their all-time best. And there are "Abstain" options for those of you who don't feel able to rate any particular songs. So please mull this over and make your choices right there on my home page. No rush! -- after all, you have two weeks! In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in the previous survey! And I hope you all have a great two weeks ahead!
