From psbfan at geowayne.com Thu Feb 7 21:09:38 2019 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Thu, 7 Feb 2019 21:09:38 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Poll ends soon on the best and worst "non-studio-album PSB years" Message-ID: Hey there! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, in which I've listed each of the years since the release of their first album, Please, in which the Pet Shop Boys did *not* release a studio album, and I'm asking you to choose (based on all the other things that took place in the "PSB world" in those years) both the one that you think is the "best non-studio-album PSB year" and the "worst." If you haven't yet made your choices, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and take a few minutes to place your votes. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new survey for the next two weeks. And I bet you can guess what it will focus on. ;-) Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at geowayne.com Sat Feb 9 21:18:39 2019 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Sat, 9 Feb 2019 21:18:39 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Final results of poll on best and worst non-studio-album PSB years Message-ID: <9d88b95c-69bb-9c34-2b23-449eb7bed600@geowayne.com> The final results are in for my poll of the past two weeks, in which I asked my site visitors to choose what they consider to be the best and worst "PSB years" from among those in which the Pet Shop Boys did not release a studio album. And the years that received the most votes were: * 1991, which 20.9% of the voters picked as the BEST non-studio-album PSB year, and * 2018, which 21.9% chose as the WORST non-studio-album PSB year. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options from the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. It should come as no surprise that my new poll for the next two weeks concerns the new EP "Agenda," which the Pet Shop Boys released just this past week. I'm asking you about your general, overall early impression of it. Later on, after we've all had much more time with the songs and have "absorbed" them, I'll be asking you to rate each track individually. But right now I'm just looking for your early impression of them as a whole. So please take a few moments to make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. By the way, several of my site visitors wrote to me this past week suggesting or predicting that I would be asking a question like this, so thanks to you all for your "nudges." And thanks to everyone who voted in my previous survey! I hope you all have marvelous weeks ahead! And the response that received the most votes was: * "I wouldn't call it 'brilliant,' but it's good, and I'm quite pleased with it," chosen by 34.5% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the following two weeks asks you to pick two PSB studio albums: (1) the one that you believe to be the most underrated, and (2) the one that you think is most overrated. (Please try to avoid simply choosing your favorite and least favorite unless you genuinely think they're underrated and overrated by fellow fans, respectively.) Thanks so much to Jim Crownover for suggesting this terrific question! And thanks as well to everyone who voted in my previous survey! I hope you all have a wonderful two weeks ahead!
