Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks you to pick your favorite Pet Shop Boys-written song dealing with the subject of lost love. If you haven't voted yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page (including a "Some other song" choice). On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and kick off a new survey for the next two weeks. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at geowayne.com Sat Sep 8 22:03:51 2018 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Sat, 8 Sep 2018 22:03:51 -0700 Subject: [Introspective] Final results of poll on favorite PSB song about lost love Message-ID: The final results are in for poll of the past two weeks, in which I asked my site visitors to pick their favorite Pet Shop Boys-written song on the subject of lost love. And the song that received the most votes -- by a very wide margin, receiving more votes than the next three runners-up combined -- was: * "The Way It Used to Be," picked by 33.0% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the next two weeks is an unusual "two-parter," the first question of which was suggested by site visitor Dwight R. of Midlothian, Virginia, asking whether you would prefer the final track on the final PSB album -- whenever it is released, and I'm sure we all hope that's not for quite some time -- to be an uptempo "stomper" or a quieter, more contemplative song. The second question is my own addendum to that one, asking whether you would prefer to know in advance whether that final PSB album is their last or whether you would prefer discovering that fact only later, after a good deal of time, when it is announced or becomes apparent in retrospect that it was indeed their last. Thanks, Dwight, for suggesting that first question and inspiring the second! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in my previous survey! And I hope you all have a wonderful two weeks ahead! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks two questions about the inevitable but hopefully still far-off final Pet Shop Boys studio album: 1. Would you prefer the final song on the final PSB album to be an uptempo stomper or a quieter, more comtemplative song? 2. Would you prefer knowing in advance that the final PSB album is indeed their final album, or would you prefer discovering that fact only in retrospect, perhaps years after its release? If you haven't voted yet on these two questions, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choices right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new survey. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a superb weekend! First, in response to my question, "Would you prefer the final song on the final PSB studio album to be an uptempo 'stomper' or a quieter, more contemplative track?" the top vote-getter was: * "I would prefer an uptempo 'stomper' to be the final track on the final PSB album," chosen by 53.5% of the voters. And, in response to my second question, "Would you prefer knowing in advance that the final PSB studio album is indeed their final album, or would you prefer discovering that only in hindsight, perhaps years later, as it becomes apparent that it had indeed been the last one?" the most votes went to: * "I would prefer knowing in advance that the final PSB album is indeed the final PSB album," picked by 52.8% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options from the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new survey for the next two weeks is inspired by the fact that this coming Thursday (September 27) marks the silver (25th) anniversary of the release of the Pet Shop Boys' album "Very." It's no secret that "Very" is my own personal choice as their best album, but I'm wondering what *you* think of it after all these years. Do you also consider it their all-time greatest studio album? Their worst? Or something in-between? So please mull this over and, when you're ready, make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in my previous survey! And I wish you all a delightful two weeks ahead! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm
