Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks, if the Pet Shop Boys were to offer to investors an opportunity to buy "shares" or "bonds" in their past and/or future music, with the opportunity for investors possibly to earn dividends based on their sales and success, would you be willing to "invest in PSB" in this way? If you haven't voted yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new survey for the week ahead. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a delightful weekend! And the response that received the most votes was: * "No, even if I could afford it!" chosen by 43.1% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the week ahead is the first of two parts, in which I'm whether each of the Pet Shop Boys' official music videos enhanced, detracted from, or had no effect on your enjoyment and/or appreciation of the corresponding single. This week I'm asking this question with regard to the first half (roughly) of their singles. (Next week I plan on asking about the second half.) So please mull this over and, when you're ready, take a few minutes to make your selections right there on my home page. Thanks so much to Andrew Smith for suggesting this question. And thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll (the first of two parts), which lists the "first half" of the Pet Shop Boys' singles and asks you to indicate whether their music video for it enhanced your enjoyment and/or appreciation of it, detracted from it, or had no significant effect on it. If you haven't voted yet, please take a few moments to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choices right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch the second part of this survey (on the "second half" of the singles and videos). Thanks to everyone who has already voted! This first part dealt with the "first half" of the PSB canon of singles thus far. And the video that received the most votes for enhancing appreciation of the song was: * "Can You Forgive Her?" picked by 76.0% of the voters as having enhanced the song. Meanwhile, the video that received the most votes for having detracted from the song was: * "Left to My Own Devices," selected by 32.6% of the voters (although in its defense, even more voters, 38.8%, indicated that the video had no significant effect on their appreciation of the song). To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the week ahead is, of course, "Part 2," in which I'm asking the exact same question of the "second half" of the Boys' videos and singles. Which videos enhanced, detracted from, and had no significant effect on your appreciation of its song? So please, when you're ready, make your choices right there on my home page. And thanks again to Andrew Smith for suggesting this question! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's survey! I wish you all a marvelous week ahead! And the video that the largest number of voters felt enhanced its single was: * "I Don't Know What You Want But I Can't Give It Any More," which 77.7% of the voters felt enhanced the song. The video that the largest number of voters felt detracted from its song was: * "Home and Dry," picked by 60.9% as the most "detracting" video. My new poll for the week ahead may seem somewhat trivial or even silly. But I'm sensitive to the complaints I get from time to time about how many of my surveys are "too long" and offer too many choices. So this one offers only a few. I remember reading a comment, quite some time ago, by a record reviewer who seemed to attach undue significance to the fact that the first three studio albums by the Pet Shop Boys -- Please, Actually, and Introspective -- as well as the album they then produced for Liza Minnelli, Results, each include a song written by them that begins with the words "I Want." He believed it suggested something about the Boys being selfish and acquisitive. But seeing as how these four songs were once singled out in this (in my opinion) absurd way, I figured it might nevertheless be fun to ask you to pick the one that's your own personal favorite. So that's my question: which Tennant-Lowe song beginning with the words "I Want" is your favorite? You have four to choose from. So please take a moment to make your choice right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope -- and, yes, I *want* --  you all to have a superb week ahead! And the song that received the most votes was: * "I Want to Wake Up," picked by 39.9% of the voters as their favorite "I Want" PSB song. My new survey for the week ahead lists a number of "synthpop duos" other than the Pet Shop Boys and asks you to pick your personal favorites (other than the Pet Shop Boys, of course).  Easy-peasy, right? So please take a few moments to make your choices right there on my home page. And thanks to "Toaster in the Bath" for suggesting this question and for supplying the lion's share of duos that I've listed. Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's survey!
