Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks how much you like (or dislike) each of the tracks on the Pet Shop Boys' most recent releases, the CD and12-inch vinyl editions of their "Undertow" single. If you haven't voted yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choices right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new single for the week ahead. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a superb weekend! And the choices made by the largest numbers of voters were: * "Undertow" - Tuff City Kids Remix: 42.9% "like it" * "Left to My Own Devices" - Super Version: 38.4% "like it" * "Burn" - Baba Stiltz Remix: 37.1% "hate it" * "Undertow" - Tuff City Kids Dub: 58.7% "haven't heard it" Quite unusually for a poll with multiple choices like this, all of the plurality votes happened to coincide with my own votes. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and either select one of the "Past Survey Results" options from the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, my new poll for the week ahead will once again run for two weeks -- but this time not because I'm going on sabbatical. On the contrary, I plan on being active and "available" the whole time (knock on wood). Rather, I have several other reasons for allowing it to run for two weeks, not the least of which is that it's a "sequel" to my other recent two-week survey, during which I asked you to pick your favorite three-album sequence of consecutive PSB studio albums. This time I'm asking you to choose your favorite three consecutive *singles* by the Boys, and I think it's only fair to allow everyone just as much time to vote on the question of singles as on the one for albums. So please take a few minutes to make your choice right there on my home page. And thanks so much to Retrofuturist for offering this terrific suggestion! By the way, I know that the matter of which releases should be considered "singles" is open to debate, and no matter what choices I make, someone will be displeased. I've listed a number of "rules" and caveats with regard to my selection of singles, which is based on their U.K. releases. If my choices don't please you, please accept my apologies, but there's nothing I can do about it once people start voting. The choices are what they are, and I ask your understanding and indulgence. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have an exceptional week ahead! And the "triad" of singles that received the most votes was: * "It's a Sin" - "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" - "Rent" picked by 10.5% of the voters. (And if that seems like an awfully low percentage of votes for a first-place finisher, keep in mind the very large number of options voters had to choose from). To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options from the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the week ahead is a "re-run" (with a slight variation) of a question that I first asked a little more than 12 years ago, so I figure it's high time to ask it again. I'm wondering what's the highest price you've ever paid for a Pet Shop Boys-related item *not counting* concert tickets and/or VIP "Meet 'n' Greets." (If you don't recall for sure, please simply take your best guess from the options provided, although you may need any of many currency-conversion routines available online to do so; I've provided a link to one such converted in the notes for the poll.) So please take a moment to make your selection right there on my home page. And thanks to Mark B for suggesting this question! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in the previous survey. And I wish you all a fantastic week ahead! And the choice selected by the largest number of voters was: * "Above $25 but no more than $50 / £39 / €45 / ¥5,560," chosen by 31.6% of the voters. My new poll for the week ahead lists songs (at least all those that I'm aware of) that Neil has specifically identified as those in which he adopted a female persona in writing the lyrics and therefore sings as a "female narrator" or from a "female perspective." I'm asking you to choose the one in which you think he has done the *best* job of portraying a female narrator. So please take a few moments to check them out and then make your choice right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead -- and I extend wishes for a happy and safe Memorial Day to my fellow Americans and anyone else who observes the holiday.
