From psbfan at geowayne.com Thu Aug 10 21:00:12 2017 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Thu, 10 Aug 2017 21:00:12 -0700 Subject: [Introspective] Poll ends soon on selections for a non-single PSB "best of" collection Message-ID: <70a2ce57-dd54-4048-0dff-ed5e955814db@geowayne.com> Hey there! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks you to pick 18 Pet Shop Boys songs, scattered equally from across their entire career, that you believe would constitute a *non-single* "best of" collection. If you haven't voted yet, please take a few moments to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choices right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and kick off a new survey for the following two weeks. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a terrific weekend! And the songs that received the most votes per album were: * "Two Divided by Zero"from/Please/ * "King's Cross"from/Actually/ * "I'm Not Scared"from/Introspective/ * "This Must Be the Place I Waited Years to Leave"from/Behaviour/ * "Dreaming of the Queen"from/Very/ * "In the Night"from/Alternative/(Disc 1) * "Shameless"from/Alternative/(Disc 2) * "It Always Comes as a Surprise"from/Bilingual/ * "Closer to Heaven"from/Nightlife/ * "Here"from/Release/ * "Positive Role Model"from/Disco 3/ * "Fugitive"from/Fundamental/ * "The Way It Used to Be"from/Yes/ * "Delusions of Grandeur"from/Format/(Disc 1) * "After the Event"from/Format/(Disc 2) * "A Face Like That"from/Elysium/ * "Fluorescent"from/Electric/ * "Burn"from/Super/ To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. It's not unusual for fans to discuss and debate the early singles choices from albums, but what about the final singles? So I've listed the final single from each Pet Shop Boys studio album and ask that for each you choose from four statements the one with which you most strongly agree. Do you think it was a good choice for the final single? Do you think it should have been an earlier single rather than the last? Do you think it shouldn't have been released as a single at all? Or do you not agree with/*any*/of the statements? So please take a few moments to make your choices right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in my previous survey! And I hope you all have two wonderful weeks ahead! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, in which I've listed the final singles released from each Pet Shop Boys studio album and ask whether you think it was a good choice as that album's final single or if you have one of a few other different opinions about it. If you haven't voted yet, please take a few moments to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choices right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new survey for the following two weeks. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a great weekend! And the song that received the largest number of votes as a good choice for an album's final single was: * "Heart," which 69.5% of the voters felt was a good choice as the final single from "Actually." Of the other songs, a majority or plurality of voters felt that all but four of them were also good choices as the final single. Of those four, their plurality outcomes were: * 43.1% felt that "London" shouldn't have been released at all as a single from "Release," * 31.9% felt that "All Over the World" shouldn't have been released at all as a single from "Yes," * 40.0% felt that "Undertow" shouldn't have been released at all as a single from "Super," and * 47.9% felt that "Integral" should have been an *earlier* single from "Fundamental" rather than the last one. For my new poll for the next two weeks -- which I expect to be my final regular biweekly poll before I resume a weekly schedule -- I've decided to go with a somewhat frivolous question that may require you to use a more fanciful imagination than called for in most of my surveys. Considering that, depending on where we live, we've just recently entered the final month of either summer or winter, I thought it might be a good time for us to consider which PSB studio album is the "most summery." But then why stop with summer? How about *every* season of the year? So which ones are most autumnal, wintry, and vernal (meaning "spring-like"), too? I hope you don't think it's too silly a question and have some fun with it. Please mull it over and, when you're ready, make your choices right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in my previous survey! And I hope the next two weeks treats you all very nicely! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm
