From psbfan at geowayne.com Fri Jan 1 01:41:27 2016 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Fri, 1 Jan 2016 01:41:27 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Poll ends soon on how PSB will commemorate "Please" 30th anniversary Message-ID: <051FDC3DD5CA49A29A07E006F5B6941E@COMP8> Hey there! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks how you believe the Pet Shop Boys are most likely to commemorate the upcoming 30th anniversary of the release of their first album, "Please." If you haven't voted yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and start a new survey for the week ahead. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! Happy New Year! -- and I hope you all have a great weekend! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at geowayne.com Sat Jan 2 22:06:52 2016 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Sat, 2 Jan 2016 22:06:52 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Final results of poll on how PSB will mark Please 30th anniversary Message-ID: <59811FEC92AC49068EAC7C9E4EA90C91@COMP8> The final results are in for my poll this past week, in which I asked my site visitors how they think the Pet Shop Boys are most likely to commemorate the upcoming 30th anniversary of the release of their first album, "Please." And the choice that received the most votes was: * "Reissue the album in a boxed set with bonus tracks, videos, and other special features," picked by 35.2% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" option in the top navigation bar, or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. Since a new year is a good time for "taking stock," my first survey of 2016 lists all of the Pet Shop Boys' official albums (including their "Tennant-Lowe" releases) and asks you to select those that you don't own a physical copy of. (And, yes, there's an option if you happen to own a physical copy of each and every one of them.) Not surprisingly, I've asked this sort of question before, but not in very long while. Since then, of course, additional albums have been released and you may have bought (or maybe even gotten rid of) certain records. So please take a few moments to make your choice(s) from the options provided right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! Once again, I wish a very Happy New Year to everyone and a great week ahead! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which takes an "inverse inventory," so to speak, of your Pet Shop Boys physical album collection. Which PSB albums do you *not* have a physical copy of? If you haven't taken part yet in this survey, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and check off the appropriate albums right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new survey for the week ahead. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a marvelous weekend! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at geowayne.com Sat Jan 9 22:09:09 2016 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Sat, 9 Jan 2016 22:09:09 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Final results of survey on PSB albums that you don't own physical copies of Message-ID: <097612432AD14591A61768CB7EC897D5@COMP8> The final results are in for my survey this past week, in which I asked my site visitors which Pet Shop Boys albums they don't own physical copies of. And, probably not surprisingly, the largest number of voters indicated: * "I own a physical copy of ALL of them!" picked by 36.9% of the voters. The album that the largest number didn't own a physical copy of turned out to be "Closer to Heaven" -- which, as more than one voter pointed out, is a "PSB album" only if you stretch the definition a bit. At any rate, to see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar, or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the week ahead is an unusually whimsical one -- even somewhat fanciful. I won't go into the full details here, but the scenario involves my joining The Doctor (of "Doctor Who" fame) on a trip back in time in his TARDIS, where we will try to convince the Pet Shop Boys to release as a single one of their songs that they did *not* release as a single. I hope you don't mind too much that I've already narrowed down the choices considerably (that's part of the scenario). So please take a few moments to consider the situation in which I've placed myself and help me out by making a choice from the options provided right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have a fantastic week ahead! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at geowayne.com Thu Jan 14 21:41:14 2016 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Thu, 14 Jan 2016 21:41:14 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Poll ends soon on PSB non-single to elevate to single status Message-ID: Hey there! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day (except in a few parts of the world -- more about that in a moment) of my current poll, in which I'm asking you to help me choose from among my personal ten top choices of non-single Pet Shop Boys songs that, if I could go back in time to persuade them to release as a single, I should pick. (I hope that makes sense, but I explain it in more detail on my home page.) If you haven't voted yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. Please note, however, that because of personal scheduling conflicts, I won't be ending this poll and switching to my new one until about 10-12 hours later than I normally do. So in some parts of the world this will be Sunday morning, but in most others it will either be much later on Sunday or even (such as in East Asia and Australia) early Monday. I do apologize for any inconvenience, and I appreciate your patience. I'll then end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new survey for the week ahead. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I wish you all a superb weekend! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at geowayne.com Sun Jan 17 07:45:34 2016 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Sun, 17 Jan 2016 07:45:34 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Final results of poll on PSB non-single to release as a single Message-ID: After the delay of nearly 10 hours that I warned about in advance, I've now posted the final results of my poll this past week in which I asked my site visitors to help me choose the Pet Shop Boys "non-single" that should try, if I could go back in time, to get released as a single. And the song that received the largest number of votes was: * "Pandemonium," chosen by 17.9% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and either select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. Considering the "What Is Super?" promotional campaign that has been going on for the past several days, I was highly tempted to make that the focus on my new poll for the week ahead. In short, wanted to ask whether you felt "Super" was the title of the soon-to-be-released new PSB album, the title of the first single, or something else entirely, maybe even with nothing whatsoever to do with the Pet Shop Boys. But then I realized that that question will apparently be answered this coming Thursday, before the end of the survey next Sunday. So I decided against it. Instead I'm asking a completely unrelated question this week, in which I'm asking you to pick your favorite song from among those that were written by the Pet Shop Boys for other artists but never officially released by them in a physical format (not counting a number of songs from their "Closer to Heaven" stage musical). So please make your choice from the songs listed right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have a -- I can't resist -- SUPER week ahead! In all the excitement about the "Super" announcement on Thursday, it completely slipped my mind to provide my usual reminder that Saturday ? today, I imagine, for most of you reading this now ? is the last full day of my current Pet Shop Boys survey, in which I'm asking you to choose your favorite song from among various tracks that Neil and Chris have written but not yet officially released in physical format in their own versions, but instead have been released by other artists. If you haven't voted yet, please visit my "Commentary"site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice right there on my home page. And the song that received the most votes was: * "The Loving Kind" (written by Tennant-Lowe in collaboration with Xenomania, but recorded by Girls Aloud), picked by 26.7% of the voters. Considering all the hot news related to the upcoming album "Super," I'm sure it will come of no surprise that I'm planning for my next few polls to be Super-related in one way or another. So first, before I begin asking anything about the album itself (at least what little we know if it, such as its title), I'm wondering how you feel about the promotional scheme -- the mysterious week-long "What Is Super?" campaign -- employed to generate interest in this past Thursday's announcements and debuts. I'm eager to hear what you think! So please take a moment to make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. Meanwhile, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And the choice picked by the largest number of voters was: * "It was brilliant! It was lots of fun to wonder and speculate about it for a week, and it didn't disappoint in the end!" chosen by 40.4% of the voters. Not surprisingly, my new survey for the week ahead once again focuses on matters related to the new album. In fact, it's actually three polls in one, asking you (using an admittedly very simple breakdown) how much you like -- or dislike, as the case may be -- three separate aspects of the album that can be assessed at this early pre-release junction: its title, its (apparent) cover artwork, and its debut track, "Inner Sanctum." So please take a few moments to make your choices right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have a most excellent week ahead! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm
