Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks you to choose up to three topics or concerns (from a pretty good-sized list that I've provided) that you would most like the Pet Shop Boys to address in future songs. If you haven't voted yet, please take a few moments to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choices right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and kick off a new survey for the week ahead. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a marvelous weekend! And the topics that received the most votes were: * Their own personal lives, chosen by 35.9% of the voters * History / historical persons or events, picked by 27.0% (to be honest, this one really surprised me!), and * LGBT rights /issues, selected by 18.9%. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. Seeing as how next Saturday is Valentine's Day, my new poll for the week ahead is love-themed. But less than two years ago I asked voters to select what they consider to be the greatest PSB love song. ("It Always Comes As a Surprise" ended up on top.) It was too soon to ask that same question again, so I'm taking a different approach this time, as suggested by site visitor Andreas Becker (Andy B). He recommended that I ask you to pick your favorite PSB song that actually contains the words "I love you" or "I'm in love with you" (or very close to it). We've come up with what we hope is a comprehensive list for you to choose from. So please take a few moments to make your choice right there on my home page. And thanks so much to Andreas for this terrific question! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's survey! I hope you have a very lovely and/or loving week ahead! (And as just a heads-up, it's distinctly possible that personal commitments may force it to be a little later than usual this time around, but, if so, probably not by much.) Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's weekend! And the song that received the most votes was: * "Rent," picked by 21.3% of the voters. My new poll for the week ahead is inspired by the fact that Rufus Wainwright recently financed the recording on CD of his opera "Prima Donna" by means of advance pledges and contributions from fans. In light of this, site visitor Steve N. recommended that I ask whether you would support and contribute toward the Pet Shop Boys doing something along the same lines to record and release one of their "outside projects," such as a video recording on DVD/Blu-ray of "Closer to Heaven," "Battleship Potemkin," or "The Most Incredible Thing," or a CD of "A Man from the Future." So please mull this over and make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. And thanks for proposing this great question, Steve! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's survey! I hope you all have a fabulous week ahead! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks whether you would be in favor of and would support the Pet Shop Boys soliciting pledges and advance contributions if it were the only way for them to record and release an "official," high-quality edition of one or more of their special projects (such as a studio recording on CD of "A Man from the Future," a DVD of "Battleship Potemkin" with their score, a DVD of their ballet "The Most Incredible Thing," or a filmed production on DVD of their stage musical "Closer to Heaven"). And the response that received the most votes was: * "Yes, I would be in favor of this and would financially support any PSB projects like that!" chosen by 38.8% of the voters. My new survey for the week ahead may be somewhat unusual in that requires you to think back on past occasions when you have attended live Pet Shop Boys concerts. One of my site visitors wondered whether how many of you have experienced strong, unusual emotional reactions to any "PSB moments" during those shows and, if so, what types of emotional reactions they were. (And there are options for those of you who either have never experienced strong, unusual emotional reactions or have never attended a live Pet Shop Boys show.) Thanks so much to Siggi S. for suggesting this intriguing question! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have a terrific week ahead! My new poll for the week ahead is inspired by the upcoming elections in the United Kingdom (where, after all, a plurality of my site visitors reside). But it holds true for elections *anywhere*. I'm wondering whether an explicit political endorsement for a party or candidate by one or both of the Pet Shop Boys would influence the way you might vote in an election. So please take a moment to make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. And thanks to Rory Simpson for suggesting this intriguing question!
