From psbfan at geowayne.com Thu Dec 3 22:01:51 2015 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Thu, 3 Dec 2015 22:01:51 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Poll ends soon on ranking PSB's six biggest hits Message-ID: <18547F9DE2424C69B459AF38D34FC02E@COMP8> Hey there! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks you to rank the Pet Shop Boys six biggest hit singles (those that hit either #1 or #2 on the U.K. pop chart) based on how much you, personally, like them. In other words, please rank your favorite of the batch #1, down to your least favorite as #6. If you haven't voted yet, please take a few moments to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your rankings right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and roll out a new survey for the week ahead. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Wayne From psbfan at geowayne.com Sat Dec 5 21:56:28 2015 From: psbfan at geowayne.com (Wayne Studer) Date: Sat, 5 Dec 2015 21:56:28 -0800 Subject: [Introspective] Final results of poll ranking PSB's six biggest hits Message-ID: <05D843EBED14402180F9DAC18A729C60@COMP8> The final results are in for my poll this past week, in which I asked my site visitors to rank the Pet Shop Boys' six biggest hit singes -- the ones that hit either #1 or #2 on the U.K. singles chart -- according to their own personal preferences. In other words, they should rank their favorite #1, on down to their least favorite of the six at #6. And the song that ended up "coming out on top," so to speak, was: * "West End Girls," which the largest number of voters (29.1%) ranked #1, and which also ended up with the best average rating, 2.86. By contrast, the song that ended up at the bottom of the pack was: * "Go West," which the largest number of voters (28.9%) ranked #6, and which also wound up with the worst average rating, 4.14. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and either select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. (The direct link to the results is http://www.geowayne.com/newDesign/surveys/2015.htm#week738.) My new poll for the week ahead lists several possible (though perhaps unlikely) very positive outcomes for upcoming Pet Shop Boys releases. I'm wondering which of these you would most like actually to occur. Sound a bit mysterious? I'm sure it won't be if you check it out right there on my home page. So please take a moment to visit and make your choice. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have a terrific week ahead! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks which of various possible very positive outcomes for some future release by the Pet Shop Boys -- regardless of how likely or unlikely you think it might be -- you would *most* like to occur. A #1 single? A #1 album? A Grammy Award? An Oscar? If you haven't already voted, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and start a new survey for the week ahead. (Although, because of another commitment, I'll probably be doing this an hour or two later than usual. I hope this doesn't cause a serious inconvenience for my usual early voters.) Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And the option that received the largest number of votes was: * "A U.K./international #1 album (but which doesn't do nearly as well in the U.S.)," picked by 31.1% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar, or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the week ahead is a sequel to the one that I ran week before last. If you recall, back then I listed the Pet Shop Boys six biggest hits -- the ones that hit either #1 or #2 in the U.K. -- and asked you to rank them according to your personal preference for them. In this week's survey, I've listed all their *other* U.K. or U.S. Top 10 singles (the ones that peaked at positions #3 through #10), and I'm asking you to pick two of them: your favorite of the batch, and your least favorite. So please mull this over and make your choices right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have a fantastic week ahead! Kobald currently is in negotiation for a new contract with them to sell the album on the European market! No words at the time about the American markets, but this should be done until the end of January!
