Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks you to choose your *least* favorite song from among the songs that received the highest ratings for each Pet Shop Boys studio album (plus the b-sides collections) in my various "Rating Project" surveys through the years. In other words, what's your least favorite "favorite PSB song"? If you haven't voted yet, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your selection right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and launch a new survey for the week ahead. Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I hope you all have a terrific weekend! The final results are in for my poll this past week, in which I asked my site visitors to pick their least favorite Pet Shop Boys song from among those that received the highest average fan ratings per album in my various ratings polls. And (much to my personal surprise!) the song that received the most votes was: * "Delusions of Grandeur," chosen by 14.3% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the week ahead is inspired by the fact that I recently realized that I haven't listened to a Pet Shop Boys CD in quite a long time. I'm still routinely listening to their music, but lately it's only been on mp3 or other digital files stored on my home and office computers. So that got me to wondering -- when was the last time *you* listened to PSB music on some physical format such as CD, vinyl, or tape rather than on digital files on a computer, smartphone, mp3 player, or some other such device. Please think back on this and, when you're ready, make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. Thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope you all have a sensational week ahead! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current survey, which asks when was the last time that you listened to Pet Shop Boys music on CD, vinyl, or tape -- in other words, in some physical format as opposed to mp3 or other digital files on a computer, smartphone, mp3 player, or other such device. (This doesn't count watching their videos, seeing them on TV or performing live, or hearing them on the radio.) If you haven't taken part yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice from the options provided right there on my home page. And the response that received the largest number of votes was: * "More than a month ago, but sometime during the past year," selected by exactly 20% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. My new poll for the week ahead is inspired by the fact that over the past few months several different site visitors have written to suggest that I ask you to pick what you consider to be the best opening or closing tracks on a PSB album. As I replied to them, I've actually asked those questions before. To be sure, I'll almost certainly ask again, but I would prefer to wait for at least another album or two before doing so. But it made me think of an interesting variation on those questions: to combine them by asking you to choose what you regard as the best combination of opening and closing tracks -- the best PSB studio album "bookends," so to speak. So please take a moment to make your choice right there on my home page. And thanks to those of you whose suggestions made me think of this variation. Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's survey! I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead! And the album and songs that received the largest number of votes were: * Behaviour - "Being Boring" / "Jealousy," chosen by 22.0% of the voters. I found the "race," so to speak, especially interesting this week, as Behaviour, Very, and Electric regularly jostled amongst themselves for first place, at least during the first half of the week. It wasn't until mid-week (around Wednesday or Thursday) that Behaviour settled in comfortably at the peak position. At any rate, to see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the Past Survey Results options in the top navigation area, or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page. The lead (that is, first) single from a new album generally plays an important role in determining that album's commercial success. So that's a consideration (though perhaps not the only or even the most important one) in my new poll for the week ahead, which once more breaks your choices down by studio album. I'm asking you to select what you regard as the best or most effective album lead single. Thanks so much to Jules Chance for suggesting this question! And thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's survey. I wish you all a most excellent week ahead! And the song that received the most votes -- more, in fact, than all of the other lead singles combined -- was: * "It's a Sin" from "Actually," chosen by 52.6% of the voters. My new survey for the week ahead is a most unusual one for me in that the question offers only two choices of response. I'm wondering which you would prefer: for an recording artist or band of your choice to cover a Pet Shop Boys song of your choice, or for an artist or band of your choice to record a completely new, previously unheard Tennant-Lowe song? Please mull this over and make your choice right there on my home page. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who voted in this past week's survey! And I wish you all a great week ahead!
