Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last full day of my current poll, which asks whether you think the "Elysium" track "A Face Like That" should ahve been saved for "Electric." If you haven't voted yet, please take a moment to visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and make your choice from the various options I provide right there on my home page. On Sunday I will end this poll, post the final results, and start my new survey for the week ahead. (If all goes according to plan, it will be a "Rating Project" poll for each of the songs on "Electric." So you may be wanting to mull that over, too, in preparation.) Thanks to everyone who has already voted! And I wish you all a fantastic weekend! Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at earthlink.net Sat Aug 3 22:08:24 2013 From: psbfan at earthlink.net (Wayne Studer) Date: Sat, 3 Aug 2013 22:08:24 -0700 Subject: [Introspective] Final results of poll on whether "Face" would have been better for Electric Message-ID: <023A1A31BEEE401C809E6629295EDDD3@WaynePC> The final results are in for my poll this past week, in which I asked my site visitors whether "A Face Like That" should have be included on the Pet Shop Boys' latest album, "Electric," rather than on the preceding album, "Elysium." And the response that received the most votes was: * "No - 'A Face Like That' provides a much-needed boost to 'Elysium,'" chosen by 30.8% of the voters. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and click the "Past Survey Results" button in the navigation bar. As promised, my new poll for the week ahead is the latest installment of my ongoing "Rating Project," in which, this time around, I'm asking you to rate each song on "Electric" on a scale of 0 to 10 as they compare to other Pet Shop Boys tracks (*not* as they compare to songs by other artists). In other words, 0 would mean "one of the very worst songs they've ever done," 5 would mean "an average PSB song," and 10 would mean "one of the very best songs they've ever done," with the corresponding gradations in-between. So please take a few minutes to make and submit your ratings right there on my home page. Thanks so much! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And this coming week rates as one of your best! ;-) Wayne http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm From psbfan at earthlink.net Thu Aug 8 22:06:30 2013 From: psbfan at earthlink.net (Wayne Studer) Date: Thu, 8 Aug 2013 22:06:30 -0700 Subject: [Introspective] Poll ends soon on rating all the songs on "Electric" Message-ID: Hey there! And the "Electric" song that earned the highest average voter rating was: * "Thursday," which earned an average rating of 7.944. This is high enough to earn "Thursday" the #15 slot in my overall (and thoroughly unscientific) "Rating Project" of the Pet Shop Boys' songs. To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and click the "Past Survey Results" button in the navigation bar. And to see the full list of ratings for all PSB songs, please click "Extras" and then select "The Rating Project." Handy links are also provided on my "What's New?" page. My new survey for the week ahead is a lot simpler, although it still deals with "Electric." This week I'm wondering whether you have bought either or both of two very special, limited-edition formats of the album: the very pricey "Electric Box" of multi-colored 12-inch vinyl discs, and the far less expensive "Electric Playbutton" -- both of which are now "sold out" and officially no longer available. So please take moment to take part in this survey right there on my home page. And thanks to Tan Sam for suggesting this question. Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week's ratings survey! And I hope you all have an excellent week ahead! And the responses chosen by majorities of the voters were: * ?No, I didn?t buy the ?Electric Box,? and I wouldn?t now even if I could,? picked by 72.4% of the voters, and * ?No, I didn?t buy the ?Electric Playbutton,? and I wouldn?t now even if I could,? chosen by 51.2%. My new poll for the week ahead shifts attention away from ?Electric? to focus instead on a much broader question. As you probably know, a number of British rock and pop stars have been knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, among them Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Tom Jones, Sir Bob Geldof, and Dame Shirley Bassey. I'm wondering whether you think the Pet Shop Boys should also receive knighthoods. As usual, however, I offer more than a simple ?Yes? and ?No? choice. So please take few moments to visit my home page, check out the options there, and make your decision. And thanks so much to Chris F. for suggesting this question! Thanks as well to everyone who voted in last week?s survey! I hope you all have a terrific week ahead! I know I am probably being impatient; I ordered the Electric tour t-shirt (with album artwork) weeks ago and I got notice that it shipped 16 days ago. I often get packages from the UK in 4-6 days. I suppose the store may be using the cheapest form of post. The total cost of the shirt (with shipping) was about $47. Quite high, I know but I had birthday money to splurge with. I wonder how much the shirts will be at the concert venues. $35 or 40 I would guess. While on the subject of the tour, is anyone on this list going to the Chicago show? I would be up for a meet. I do not have special access tickets. Contact me directly if you'd like to exchange info.
