The final results are in for my poll this past week, in which I asked my
site visitors whether they believe there should be a third single from the
Pet Shop Boys' new album "Elysium" and, if so, which song they think it
should be. And the song picked by the the largest number of voters was:
* "A Face Like That," chosen by 38.2% of the voters.
To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at
http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and click the "Past Survey Results"
button in the navigation bar.
Normally I would now invite you all to take part in a new survey for the
week ahead. But for personal reasons I won't be running any surveys for the
next four weeks. I'm having a "website sabbatical" for most of the month of
October -- a temporary break that will help me "recharge my batteries," so
to speak, while also giving my carpal tunnel syndrome-prone forearms a
much-needed rest. During this period my website will remain up and running
(unless there's an unexpected outage with my site hosting service), but with
few if any updates or additions. I will also be cutting back substantially
on my access to and use of email during October. So if you write to me and
don't hear back from my in short order, that's why. In fact, I humbly ask
that you avoid emailing me since your emails may tempt me to break my
sabbatical, which is something I would really prefer not to do.
At any rate, I hope you will continue your visits, especially after I resume
full operations toward the end of October. And I invite you to be thinking
in advance about what I expect will be my first new poll at that time: a new
edition of my "Rating Project" in which I will ask you to rate each of the
songs on "Elysium" (plus the "Winner" bonus tracks) on a scale of 0 to 10 as
they compare to other PSB songs, with 0 being "one of the worst songs
they've ever done" and 10 being "one of the very best songs they've ever
done." You have a lot of time to think about it!
Until then, thank you for participating in my polls, your site visits, your
emails, and your support of my website. I wish you all a very safe, happy,
and successful October!
