The final results are in for my poll this past week, in which I asked my
site visitors what they would choose as the breakdown of contents, in terms
of percentages of various categories, of a possible five-CD Pet Shop Boys
"definitive career retrospective" boxed set. And the average percentage
figures derived from those votes were:
31.0% singles
16.1% non-single album tracks
14.0% b-sides/non-album tracks
12.1% previously unreleased songs
5.6% unreleased remixes
4.8% previously released remixes
4.7% live recordings
4.3% demos of released songs
3.6% pre-fame demos
3.0% BBC/other radio broadcasts
0.9% "other" (anything that doesn't fit in the other categories)
To more information about these results, please visit my "Commentary" site
at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and click the "Past Survey Results"
button in the left navigation bar.
My new poll for the week ahead is inspired by comments I had read online
some time ago-and even a couple of emails that I received-regarding the
praise that many fans had been heaping on the Boys' most recent album "Yes."
Some were suggesting that opinions of the album would surely decline over
time, after the initial flush of enthusiasm over new music. Now that "Yes"
is nearly a year old (it was released in March 2009), I'm wondering whether
this is indeed the case. Has your opinion of the album changed? Do you have
a lower opinion of it now than shortly after it was released? Or maybe you
have a higher opinion of it. Then again, maybe your opinion hasn't changed
at all. So please take a moment to make your choice right there on my home
page.
Meanwhile, thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I hope
you all have a superb week ahead!
Wayne
