The final results are in for my poll this past week, in which I asked my
site visitors to rate each of the tracks of the Pet Shop Boys' "Battleship
Potemkin" film score on a 0-10 scale. And the track that received the
highest average rating was:

* "No Time for Tears," with an average rating of 7.874.

This rating places "No Time for Tears" at position #17 in my overall Rating
Project results -- just below "Domino Dancing" and just above "Your Funny
Uncle." To see the complete average ratings results, please visit my
"Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and click the
"Survey Results" button in the left navigation bar. And to see where all of
the "Potemkin" tracks fall in the overall ratings, click the left nav's
"Extras" button and then click on "The Rating Project" on the Extras menu
page.

I must say that this turned out to be a very surprising poll in many ways.
For one thing, the voter turnout was much lower than usual, and nearly a
quarter of all the votes submitted were abstentions. (Some of you have
explained to me that you chose not to vote because you consider the
"Potemkin" score a complete, unified work, the individual tracks of which
should not be judged separately and/or outside the context of the film. I
certainly understand and greatly respect that decision.) I was also
surprised at the great split in the votes. Voters tended to "love it or
hate it" far more than the typical PSB album, with fewer mid-range votes
than usual for the instrumental tracks. (Rating behavior was far more
typical for the vocal tracks.)

At any rate, my new survey for the week ahead stems from a conversation I
had some time ago with a new colleague at work. After learning about my
website and fondness for the Pet Shop Boys, she speculated that I must have
a "shrine" to them at home and/or my office space, complete with PSB
posters, photos, and the like. That has inspired me to ask whether *you*
have any PSB posters, photos, or other PSB-related paper-based artwork on
display where you live and/or work. (Books, albums, and CD/DVD packaging
doesn't count, nor does electronic-based artwork, such as computer
wallpapers or screensavers.) So please take a moment to share this
information with your fellow fans on the home page of my website. And as
for me, I'd like to hold off on how I replied to my colleague's speculation
until after this survey is complete. ;-)

Thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And here's wishing you
all a very, very happy and safe week ahead!
